This is the travel diary of our "snowbird" winter in Arizona. We'll try our best to update this every day along to keep our friends and family updated on our lives.

Nelson

So...today was our last full day in Lake Havasu City, as we head back to Mesa tomorrow to get ready to go to work for the World Baseball Classic. As you've probably guessed, one of my priorities was to run my model hydroplane on the lake, just one more time before we left.

Well, that didn't go so well.

It ran great off the launch, around the first turn, and even down the backstretch. But then something went wrong. I think it was the battery for the transmitter going bad. I lost control of the steering and the boat did circles which I couldn't control. Then the engine died, and while I had periodic control over that, it wasn't looking good still. As the boat turned circles to the left, it started nosing into the water, and it started filling up the inside of the boat.

Next thing I knew, the Red Man was at the bottom of Lake Havasu. Ugh. Fortunately, though, it was only in about three feet of water, so I waded out to get it. It, and all of the components are drying out right now so that I can put it all back together tomorrow when we get to Mesa. I'm hoping that it all works so that I can go race with the Mesa Model Yacht Club fast electric guys on Saturday. But I'm not going to force anything. That would be stupid. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Speaking of Saturday, as it turns out I'm not scheduled to work the Saturday exhibition game for the World Baseball Classic, so we'll probably go see the Cougar (WSU) men's basketball team play at Arizona State that night. We'll probably be the only Cougar fans in the whole building, but maybe that'll be fun...as long as we don't get too close to the student section. LOL.
