Dawn & Nelson-Snowbirds

This is the travel diary of our "snowbird" winter in Arizona. We'll try our best to update this every day along to keep our friends and family updated on our lives.

Nelson

Our first full day back in Lake Havasu City was an up and downer day, for me at least.

It all started when I woke up at 4:20 a.m., and couldn't really ever get back to sleep. There was no particular reason why I woke up so abruptly, nor why I couldn't get back to sleep, but there it was. Kinda weird, I thought, especially since I hadn't had a really good night's sleep since Friday night.

Oh well...maybe tonight.

When I did finally get up and around (about 8), I took care of a few work things around here and then went up to the kennel to pick up the dogs. They were so cute, all the way home in the car, they were trying to out-position one another on my lap just to get some attention from me, and as soon as they got inside the RV, the first thing they did was shoot back toward the bedroom to see their "mommy". Anyway, it was pretty cool having our dogs with us again. We missed them while we were gone.

Early this afternoon, about the time I wanted to go over and rent the Wave Runner I've been dying to take out ever since we got here, Dawn noticed that something was smelling like it was burning...so I went outside to check on stuff, and the water heater in our RV had water running out of it onto the ground. It looks like, to my amatuer mind, that the pressure relief valve has gone bad and is in need of replacement. We'll see tomorrow as I'm going to work on that more then. But I spent a couple of hours this afternoon looking for troubleshooting for that problem, and finally just decided that if I was going to rent a Waverunner, now was the time.

Man was that fun! Got it up to 42 mph a couple of times. In terms of wanting one someday, I think I do. But as for while we're traveling, it's just not going to happen. We can't tow a Waverunner on a trailer AND the car behind the RV.

Oh...I should update you on my trip too! The media relations training and newsletter consulting that I did at Peninsula Light the past two days went really well. It even looks like I'll be invited back to PenLight in April to do a media relations session for the staff and board of directors. I'm excited about that. There will hopefully be some referrals that come from this, too. I was so jazzed about how well things went the last couple of days that I upgraded my airplane ticket to first class when I checked in. It was pretty cool. I'd never flown first class before. I have to say, I appreciated the extra leg room and the bigger seat, and being one of the first people on the plane (and one of the first off), was pretty awesome. But I'm not sure I'll be doing it on a regular basis from now on. The only bad part about the trip was that I missed my wife.

We really did have a good time in Vegas, though. It was a good chance for us to get away and have some fun, now that being in the RV has become our regular life.

I'm getting excited about the World Baseball Classic. As I said the other day, I recently found out that I got a consulting contract for the work I'm going to be doing next week. It's a very good thing for me, for us, and for my little company.

OK. I surrender. I'm tired, so I'm going to go to bed now. I've posted some pictures below, and Dawn updated with pictures AND text, too...so be sure to read all the way down. I'm sure I have other things to write about, too, but I'll do that another time...when I'm not so sleepy.
