Dawn
My last blog might have seemed kind of harsh. I did that for my friends. I knew that the people that really know me would know that I was just kidding, and the people that don’t really know me , would think I was serious. Sorry to anyone who thought I was really mad.
My Grandmother (Nana) died yesterday. It is sad because it is so final, but she has been suffering from alzheimer’s (sp?) for many, many years, probably close to 15 years since it started. Our family has been mourning her everytime we see her and even think about her. She was just a human shell with nothing inside. My cousin Laurie (another granddaughter ) and I said we are very happy. She’s with Grandpa and her sister Auntie Hope with a scotch and water in one hand and a cigarette in another. We love to think about her smile and her laugh that we haven’t seen for so many years. It’s a good thing that’s she’s passed on. I love you Nana.
Well, we had a great time in Vegas. I was there for 4 days. I did end up missing my hubby when he had to leave town though. I still had fun, but had more fun when Nelson was there with me. I think after the 4 days of lots of gambling, I actually came out ahead about $75.00. There were 3 times of playing the 25 cent Wheel of Fortune slots, that I actually quit and walked away when I was ahead. One time I stopped at $250.00 ahead, one time at $225.00 ahead and another time at $50.00 ahead. I never put in more than $20.00, so in one way that was good, but if you do your math, with all of that winning and only coming out $75.00 ahead...well, you get the point.
Our hot water heater started leaking today. That sucks. Nelson is going to try to replace the valve tomorrow. He’s been trying to read about fixing it all day. Hopefully we won’t need to buy a new one.
My girlfriend Lou goes into the hospital tomorrow to have a tumor removed from her bladder. Good Luck Lou, I’ll be thinking about you every minute tomorrow.
Tomorrow is our last day here in Havasu. We are very sad, but we have lots of fun things coming up for us in Phoenix, too.
My girlfriend Lisa was in Phoenix this week at her mom’s winter house. It was her birthday on the 24th. It just freeks me out that she turned 50!. We have been friends since we were 15. Where in the world has the time gone??? It’s crazy. Even though I’ll be 50 on my next birthday, for some reason it was just a shock that Lisa was now 50. Weird, huh?
So..who is everyone’s favorite on “American Idol” this season? And isn’t “One Tree Hill” good? And of course “Grey’s Anatomy”?
Bye!

We too were sorry to hear of Nana's passing, but agree with you that it is indeed a blessing. She is in a better place.
So--y'all needed a vacation from your vacation? Things that make you go hmmmm!
We just returned from a week in Orlando, on flights which we, by the way, did NOT upgrade to First Class on. However, it might have been worth the dough. Of course Rick always gets the window seat, leaving me in the middle to deal with the kook on the aisle. I am a magnet for trouble. The first flight was a yakkety teacher from Vancouver on her way to visit her husband who is shipping out to Iraq. Wait, the soap opera gets better. She has custody of her granddaughter, because her daughter-- who also lives with her (and yikes!! is home with the kid) is a meth addict. Praise the Lord, we touched down in Houston and I was hoping for a quiet seatmate in to Orlando. No Freakin' Chance. This time I draw Esther, a recent widow (in November) who has been cavorting around visiting all of her children, all of whom wish she would come to live with them. Bless their hearts. I thought several hours was trying. She boarded clutching a sack full of cold food from Wendy's which she tried to give away every 5 minutes. Rick finally ate (or should I say wore) the nasty cold burger, so she would shut up about what a sin it was to waste food. Esther, of course, is legally blind (but still works for US customs--I think she is in charge of looking for drugs), and has a bum knee. Funny, she walked all over Anacortes with her son but had to be taken off the plane in a wheelchair. Must have been a severe need for attention. She kept hinting that she needed a ride home from the airport so that she wouldn't need to disturb Homer, the black man from her church (I don't care what color he is--too much information), because after all, the plane wasn't landing until 10:30 and he would surely need to be in bed. Also, her luggage was so large, she was most certainly going to need a crew of skycaps to get it off of the carousel. Although she tried repeatedly, we did not "bite" on the ride home from the airport.
It is amazing how much personal information these goobers give out to a total stranger on an airplane. I suppose it is not polite to tell someone to just sit there and keep their yap shut, but it is tempting. The return flights were better--an empty seat and an uptight corporate frump! YEAH!!! Look out for the stews-if you fly Continental-I swear they hire ex military DI's. Good food and free movies, but bossy bees with itches running the show.
Rick came home to an office remodel which just finished yesterday. We all had a very dirty, working weekend. Everything turned out nice and he only has one disgruntled employee threatening to put a gun to her head and pull the F'in trigger. It is so much fun to be in charge. Of course, her new spot is too cold, too dark, and too small--TOO BAD!!! I am never admitting that I drew the new plans and am responsible for her placement. She would probably scratch my eyes out.
So--I better get downstairs and check on my sleeping babe. I have Keegan here today. He has just started to walk. What a hoot. It is akin to a kamikaze taking flight. He has that hands out in front-wobbly monster thing going. But-the little jerk will bump into the same item over and over, yet continue to return to the same spot. Thud-Waaaaa-Thud-Waaaa-Thud-Waaaa. You get the picture. The little girls, having a much higher intelligence level, only do it once. They realize that is a bad place and don't go back. Yet--men run corporate America and the government. That is why we have troubles!!!
Dawn, Sorry to hear about your grandmother passing. She certainly was good to you (and us) over the years.
Craig
Joan, I think you could have a following for your own blog. I would read it and it's obvious that you love to write creatively. You need to just write your thoughts in your humorous way everyday on your own blog. I'll bet a lot of people would get hooked.
Thanks Craig!
