Dawn & Nelson-Snowbirds

This is the travel diary of our "snowbird" winter in Arizona. We'll try our best to update this every day along to keep our friends and family updated on our lives.

My little cowgirl. Ain't she cute? :)

Here's the Goldfield Ghost Town that we visited today. Following are other pictures of the town. Supposedly, this was a real gold mining town back in the 1800s and someone has come in to make sure the buildings don't fall down and turned it into a tourist trap. Just about every building was either a restaurant of some sort, or a gift shop. But they also sell horse carriage rides, rent horses for riding around the area, sell tickets for a little narrow-guage train that encircles the town, and sell tickets for mine tours that take you underground. It was a fun little stop for us, and we spent most of the afternoon there without spending an ungodly amount of money.

The same main street looking the opposite direction.

Here's the chapel in the Ghost Town.

Dawn by an ore car outside one of the "gift shops" at Goldfield Ghost Town.

The horse and buggy.

We think this is one of the "Superstition Mountains." Pretty cool view of it from the deck at the saloon where we had lunch.

Hi Guys,

Rick and I were there once. We took a side trip from Phoenix. It was so cold we nearly froze our bums off (which wouldn't have been so bad). We went to Arizona all prepared for nice weather, and it snowed. I think we have bad weather Karma or something. Guess we should stay away.
