Dawn & Nelson-Snowbirds

This is the travel diary of our "snowbird" winter in Arizona. We'll try our best to update this every day along to keep our friends and family updated on our lives.

The dogs love it when Dawn takes a nap. This is pretty much the same places they both always end up.

This is the one time that I didn't take the same picture that Dawn took. :) Seriously, I'm not as bad about that stuff as she teases me about being.

Biosphere 2. Inside this big part of the glass building is the rain forest.

This is the ocean inside Biosphere 2.

The desert. Believe it or not. It was cooler in here than it was in the Savannah, which was more humid than Atlanta!

I know this picture sucks . . . I couldn't stop walking without getting run over by the rest of the tour group. It's inside a tunnel that goes between the Biosphere 2 basement into one of its "lungs". The lungs are where the hot air escaped from the building during the day, and was stored until the building cooled at night, when it was sealed, keeping the building from exploding or imploding.

This domed building is one of the lungs. Inside these twin buildings is essentially just a huge membrane with a counterweight in the middle. It's what forces the air in and out of the lung. Pretty awesome engineering. Who thinks of all this stuff!? Wow!
