Dawn & Nelson-Snowbirds

This is the travel diary of our "snowbird" winter in Arizona. We'll try our best to update this every day along to keep our friends and family updated on our lives.

Dawn

We had a lot of fun today. Our RV park is part of a country club with a golf course. Nelson played golf today and I drove the little cart, which was really fun, I’d never driven one before. I’m going to try to golf next time. It does look fun. At one point today I look over at the tee and Nelson is on his back practically screaming. I run over to him asking him what in the world is the matter. He then starts laughing and says that he just hit himself really hard in the ankle with his club. Now all day he has been complaining about his hurt ankle, that he did to himself. He’s kind of a klutz sometimes, lol. It is pretty swollen though.

Most of the people that live here think that the weather is pretty cold. We think it’s perfect. It’s been about 70 degrees. People know we’re not from here because Nelson wears shorts. At the stores, they have swimsuits on one rack and sweaters next to it. Really weird.

We then went and bought the things we need to wash the RV. It’s really dirty and it’s embarrassing. So we”re going to wash it in the morning.

Then we went to the Olive Garden for dinner with the gift certificate that Brooke and Luka got for Nelson for his birthday. Thanks guys!

Tomorrow night I think there is some kind of a light parade in downtown Palm Springs that we’re going to go to. That will be a fun Christmas thing to do. Today I saw these huge like 8 ft. tall cacti (sp?,cactuses?) anyway they were covered with Christmas lights. How in the world did they do that? Sounds hurtful. It really isn’t very christmasy around here though. There are a few festive things, but not very many, like at home.

“America’s next top model” and “Lost” were really good tonight. Two of my favorite shows. Are they anyone else’s favorite shows? Or am I as dorky as my kids say I am?

Not much else to say. I don’t blame everyone if you’re getting bored with our blogs. It’s hard to think of good stuff to say all of the time. Sorry. What keeps us going is knowing that someone out there is enjoying it. And we think of it as a great diary for us of our trip.

So there Craig and Brooke, I don’t think I said “awesome” once this whole time..did I?

Way to go Nelson. I have known for years that you could not drive a R/C hydro but this takes the cake. I think some years back I seen a video of Dwarf (Tim Conway) playing golf or was that you. Just for your information your back swing should have stoped sooner. Well I think you should try a different sport like shuffle board but then some old lady might hit that to hard and your big toe could get broken. Ok go back to your computer and get some work done.

Nellie,

I haven't played golf for a while, but if I remember correctly, the idea is to hit the ball, not your ankle. Keep that in mind next time you play. And I'll keep it in mind as I watch the rain continue to fall.

Where is the RV park located? Is it in Palm Springs or one of the many other towns in the area?

My Mom & Dad stayed in Palm Springs one winter and loved it. I think they said they where close to the Ronald Regan Ranch. The next year they went to the Saltan Sea, I think that was what they called it and enjoyed it also. Have you used the kitchen yet for cooking food or just to make coffee? Are you missing the RCU board yet? LOL Have fun sitting in the sun as I'm slip sliding away to get to lunch with the Jet today. I'll have a BV and coke for ya!!!

Craig, I knew it was you because I'm psychic. You can't hide anything from me.
