This is the travel diary of our "snowbird" winter in Arizona. We'll try our best to update this every day along to keep our friends and family updated on our lives.

Dawn

Our last day here. We got some last minute shopping done. I just finally talked to Steph. Our news here said 5 storms with sheets of ice in Portland (the newscaster said mul-toe-mah county instead of Multnomah, dork) and 50 mile per hour winds. I’d been trying to reach Steph all day. But I just found out she had to work both of her jobs today, is why she hadn’t returned my calls. But she’s ok, and she said the storm was yesterday, so all is cool.

I hung out at Barnes & Noble today, while Nelson shopped for me. I bought a new Christmas book to read the girls on Christmas Eve. For their entire lives we have read “Twas’ the night before Christmas” and “How the Grinch stole Christmas” every single Christmas Eve. They are going to be very upset that I bought “Polar Express” to read this year. Yes, they are age 21 and 25... SO WHAT??? What can I say, they love traditions. And I kind of hate to let them go too. I wonder if we’ll still do that when they have children? Knowing them, probably.

Tonight we went to a “walk through” Christmas Display. Kind of like the one at the Portland zoo every year. But we thought it was cooler really. Besides all of the lights everywhere, they had a really big miniature train and village. It was the biggest and neatest one I’ve ever seen. It really made you feel like you wanted to live in the little town.

They also had a small ice skating rink set up and were renting out ice skates. But the ice wasn’t really ice. It was like plastic with a thick sheet of wax on it. But it looked like it was about the same to try to skate on. It looked like people were having fun.

And another really cool part was an outdoor band with a bunch of outdoor fireplaces. They were selling hot chocolate and food. And there were Christmas lights everywhere and palm trees. It was really fun.

The weather report here today said in the 70’s all week and possibly 80 on Christmas, is that weird or what? I must admit I’m a little jealous that there is snow at home. But only a little. I do love the weather here.

Hope everyone is having a great holiday week. Bye.
