Dawn & Nelson-Snowbirds

This is the travel diary of our "snowbird" winter in Arizona. We'll try our best to update this every day along to keep our friends and family updated on our lives.

First stages of packing...

Today was the first day that we've spent any time packing items we'll need into "Howie". Ever since we bought the RV, we've been amazed at how much storage space we have in the RV. Everyone we know who knows anything about motor homes and the truth about their storage space has told us not to get too excited until we start packing.

We're feeling a little relieved tonight, after we got almost all of our clothes into the motorhome tonight -- and there's still loads of space for us to use for storing other stuff.

Getting Ready

Well...we're right at two weeks before we leave rainy Vancouver-Portland for the winter. We're getting everything ready and took Howie (our "House on Wheels") for a shakedown camping trip last weekend. It's weird to think that the trip is coming up so quickly, but we're both very excited about it.

As you all know, we're headed to Arizona for the winter. I'm going to try and find part-time work at one of the Major League Baseball Spring Training parks, or a golf course. We're both going to work really hard at getting my business, Noslen Communication, going. That's going to take up about four hours of each of our days. But we're also going to make sure we take time to stop and smell the roses along the way. We're in no hurry to get there, and we're going to see as much as we can, and enjoy the nice weather.

Before we can go, however, there's lots to get done: Getting connected to Dish Network, signing up for remote Internet access, replacing the vinyl flooring in our motorhome, packing, organizing, trip planning, and much, much more.

We've been working a lot on that as time allows for us, so keep checking out our blog as we move forward toward flying south for the winter.

The trip starts on Saturday, Nov. 12, when we actually head north to Seattle for the R/C Unlimiteds and ERCU Awards Banquet at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum. The next day, we head south...for real, on our way to Arizona.
